We use only OEKO-TEK Standard 100 Certified Linens

We’ve often said that our products are both human and earth friendly. We’ve talked a lot about packaging and ingredients, what about the textiles our goods are made with?

The linen we use for our eye pillows, body comfort wraps, lovie packs and do good sponges are all made with linen that has been OEKO-TEK Standard 100 certified. The dyes in the linen we use for our products are European reactive dyes that are AZO free. The fabric labels we use are 100% natural cotton and the thread we sew with is 100% cotton with AZO free dyes.

What does it mean to be OEKO-TEK Standard 100 certified? The testing takes into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health and the environment. Often the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. OEKO-TEK certified textiles are free of pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons chlorinated phenols, phthalates (softeners), PFOS, PFOA, surfactant wetting agent residues (APEOs) just to name a few.

Why is it important to use products with AZO free dyes? Some AZO dyes can be carcinogenic, many times due to benzidine. Benzidine induces various human and animal tumors. Another AZO dye component is p-phenylenediamine, which is a contact allergen.

Imported linen that isn’t OEKO-TEK certified, polyester thread and tags would lower our cost, however would include toxins and would not be biodegradable.

Manufacturing products that are both human and earth friendly is our top priority, our linens are a perfect fit.
